NEW THIS YEAR: COMMUNITY OPEN SPACES 2023
Many of you may be aware that county councils across the country are funding initiatives to bring local communities together again, especially after extended lockdowns and isolation for so many residents, by providing Community Open Spaces where we can meet up with our friends and neighbours in a comfortable, warm environment and have a cup of tea or coffee.
On behalf of Ewhurst Parish Council, your Parish Clerk, Jane Clarke, together with co-ordinator, Joanna Birdsey, have worked extremely hard organising venues in both Ewhurst Green (Herdman Pavilion) and Staplecross (Village Hall) to host these Community Open Spaces.
The first event in the Herdman Pavilion, Ewhurst Green was held on Thursday 19 January between 10:00am and 12:00noon. As with all these Community Spaces they are all free of charge and a ‘drop-in’ event (no obligation to stay for the duration). On this first occasion there was an IT expert on hand to answer any queries regarding mbile phone, tablet or computer issues, including identifying the bane of our lives, the scam email! This proved to be particularly popular so the plan is to invite Peter back to answer more of our queries.
The next event on 16 February will be a free kids' baking class. Although this event is now fully booked due to limited spaces, another one is planned for the near future so keep an eye on your local noticeboards and the Ewhurst Green village Facebook site.
Please come along and try it out, join us for a cup of something warm and a chat and we’d love to hear your ideas for future guest visitors, maybe experts in their field. This is everyone's community space so everyone's ideas are welcome, nothing is set in stone and we welcome volunteers happy to make tea, fill the dishwasher etc., whenever they can come along.
Dates are booked for every third Thursday in the month between 10:00-12:00hrs at the Herdman Pavilion right up to 15 June of this year. Staplecross VH have more dates available each month and both venues open to anyone, wherever they live in the parish.
We look forward to as many people as possible supporting this initiative and helping it grow into a success for the community as a whole. Feedback is always valued - even negative ones - otherwise nothing can change for the better.
